Senior School

Our teachers are passionate Christian educators who believe that students are made in the image of God and each one is created with individual gifts. At Pacific Coast our educators seek to understand your child and work with them to develop their ability to Lead, Learn and Serve Jesus.

Our dedicated teachers are skillful practitioners who have achieved the peak of their fields in sports, industry, the arts, academia and education. Our staff have competed at the highest level, won national championships, launched innovative technologies and small businesses, performed internationally on the stage, won state-wide art competitions and national scholarships in dancing, worked in industry-leading multinational companies, served in the armed forces, and completed PhDs and Masters degrees. They are equipped to teach and inspire your child.

We are excited to partner with you in educating your child, nurturing their gifts and supporting them in recognising and using the gifts God has given them.

Rich Learning Program

At Pacific Coast Christian School we provide a Rich Learning Program that will challenge your child to grow academically, spiritually, and emotionally. The early Senior School years are incredibly important, as young teenagers shape their identity, discover their strengths and develop habits and attitudes that can set the foundation for their future.

In Years Seven to Ten, your child will complete the full NSW Australian Curriculum, in a class environment that is tailored to be supportive and challenging. This is complemented by a Biblical Studies program and a Pastoral Care program that focus on developing relationship with God, resilience, a growth mindset and personal maturity through service learning.

All classes are a supportive, rich learning environment, but your child can also be extended further by taking advantage of Enrichment classes in Science, Mathematics and English. These classes are grouped in stages, for example, Years 7/8, 9/10 and are specifically designed to extend confident students.

The Rich Learning Program continues through our elective offerings in Years Nine and Ten. Your child will be able to choose from a large variety of electives to develop their areas of unique talent: Physical and Sports Studies, Food Technology, Child Studies, Marine Studies, Engineering, Robotics, Industrial Technology, Information Software Technology, Drama, Visual Arts, French, Digital and Photographic Media, Commerce and Music.

Years 11-12 Focused Higher School Certificate (HSC)

At Pacific Coast Christian School your child will be provided with a rich variety of academic and non-academic opportunities in Year Eleven and Twelve structured in an innovative Focused HSC pattern that is designed to decrease exam stress and maximise student choices.

In the Focused HSC structure, students choose two subjects to complete at a traditional rate over the course of two years. They can choose from Standard English, Advanced English, General Maths, Advanced Maths, Maths Extension, or Studies of Religion. They will sit their exams for these subjects at the end of Year Twelve.

Students then select two elective courses for each year. These courses are compressed, meaning that they will complete the entire course in the one year. This means that your child will complete four focused electives over the course of two years. This approach reduces the stress of HSC exams and allows the School to offer a great variety of focused electives over the course of two years:

Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Industrial Technology, Engineering, PDHPE, Modern History, Business Studies, Drama, Music, Visual Art, Aboriginal Studies, Community and Family Studies, Marine Studies (Non-ATAR), Sports Lifestyle and Recreation (Non-ATAR), Child Studies (Certificate III). By the end of Year 12, students will have completed six subjects and will have the opportunity of securing an ATAR (Australian Tertiary Achievement Ranking)

Sport

Students are supported at Pacific Coast Christian School in their physical capabilities and gifting. There are a variety of sports and sporting opportunities at Pacific Coast Christian School. Our students have enjoyed success at state and national level in athletics, swimming, touch football, and soccer. Each year a number of our students are selected for state and national teams and perform at state and national competitions. At Pacific Coast, staff and teachers are focused on supporting the gifts your child has been given. The school has a basketball development program, and students also participate in inter-school sporting gala-day competitions for other team sports such as soccer, cricket, AFL and netball.

There are currently a number of team sports including, Basketball and Football. As the school continues to grow the opportunities for sporting teams will continue to increase. Please ask on enrolment for current options.

Creative Arts

At Pacific Coast Christian School we nurture the creative. Musicals are held bi-annually. While most of the cast and crew are from our Senior School, our Junior School students are given the opportunity to participate in class groups and some of our more gifted students given solos where possible. It is always wonderful to see our students contribute in the School Musical. Students grow in school pride, self-confidence and develop a passion for creative arts.

Throughout the year, an art club allows students the opportunity to grow their artistic talents informally at lunch. The community choir allows students to grow in skill, while also serving others and developing a rich community.
