Grandparent’s and Friend’s Day for Book Week 2018

On Friday August 24 we had our annual Grandparent’s and Friend’s Day with a Book Character Parade for Book Week.
It was a beautiful morning, weather wise, and the children were excited. There were many varied characters that had come alive for the day. Parents, grandparents and friends gathered under the Cola as the children arrived class-by-class for the parade. Visitors were then invited back to the classrooms to share literacy activities with the children. Many classrooms were standing room only and there was a hive of activity in each room.
A scrumptious morning tea followed with some time to fellowship or visit the Book Fair. We were blessed with the proceeds from the Book Fair with nearly $200 of new books gifted to the library and just over $600 to spend on new resources for the Junior School.
I feel the highlight of the morning was the Showcase. Each class performed a literacy based item. We had a great variety of songs, plays, and poems. An enjoyable morning was had by both young and old.
